That 5th PC though - I cannot connect with directly. Using that connection I am able to help with 4 of the 5 PCs directly via uVNC over that VPN connection.

OpenVPN is all I use to enable a 'tunnel' into their place from here. I live over 100 miles away from these friends, and they have a total of 5 PCs between them. It really seems like the remote firewall isn't allowing the VPN session into that computer. I can only suggest verifying the remote location's router is allowing the OpenVPN connectivity to the problem computer. Obviously without that connection uVNC will never connect, and I have never used OpenVPN so I cannot be much assistance on that front. It sounds like you are saying you cannot connect with OpenVPN to that computer. I hope this is enough info to at least have a starting point in solving these problems as I cannot go there in person very often due to illness and other limitations resulting from that.īonji wrote:If you can connect to the problem computer from another computer local to its network, then the problem computer has uVNC properly configured (including any potential firewall issues). What I've listed are the only changes that happened as I was there since the problems started and verified things myself. The other changed after a re-installation of NOD32 antivirus, and has the same firewall app it always did - but is now unreachable. One 'vanished' PC now uses 360safe Internet Security with no firewall and it cannot be reached - does not appear by any sort of scan - and before, when it used NOD32 and a separate firewall app it connected flawlessly. When I scan that network I can see it and the other 2 PCs and the IPFire gateway only. I have the correct usernames/passwords & local IP addresses, but connection attempts just fail now consistently, only with those two PCs. Just lately there have been a couple of changes and I am hoping someone here may be able to help me find solutions so as to allow future connections to work.Ģ of their PCs have sort of vanished from the network and I can no longer connect with them. I have been able to connect & operate those PCs flawlessly for some time using UltraVNC via OpenVPN, usually using ChrisConnect because it is so quick and easy. There is a domain pointed & updated to the dynamic IP there via DtDNS and that works fine.

There, they have cable internet, a wireless router, a PC with IPFire which I put in place for them, and 4 PCs (each has their own), all using XP. Here, I have cable internet and I use XP. I have a friend who lives quite far away and I help him and his family with keeping their PCs running as well as possible. Please bear with me as I try to explain this.!
